March 26, 2018 Update! Dive Team information
Hello All,
Happy Spring! Courtney Gabriel has decided to take on the role of Dive Coordinator for this year. Thank you Courtney!!
She is lining up candidates for interviews and asked if we could get some idea of the number of people that may be interested in diving this year.
The Dive Team practices around the same time as Swim Team so you don't have to "come back" to the pool for practice, and meets are held on Sundays. The kids who participate seems to really love it and we are excited about our coaching prospects for 2018 season.
Please send Courtney a note at Courtney.Gabriel@uphs.upenn.edu if you think one or more of your children may be interested in joining the Dive team.  No commitment required, just want to get a general idea of numbers.
March 7, 2018 Update! Get ready for the 2018 Season!!
Happy Snow Day, Masked Bandits!!
As we all brave yet another snow storm, I thought the timing appropriate to provide an update on plans for the 2018 Swim Season, which, thankfully, is only a few short months away!!

As you know we launched two committees towards the end of 2017 focused on new membership opportunities and beautification efforts for the Club.  Special thanks to Marisa Miloszewski and Matt Hand Lisa Hariegel for leading these efforts in partnership with the Club board!  Many others continue to provide great insights and suggestions related to these efforts and we thank you for taking the time to get involved.

As a result, there are several initiatives in progress that we are very excited about:

Key cosmetic improvements such as a new roof, repainting the exterior, refurbishing the bathrooms, new lighting, sound system, repairing the High Dive (fingers crossed!),  as well as other “clean up”  items that will help our facilities shine!

New Member incentive program offering a limited access Swim Team Only membership option! This is to encourage new members who would love to participate on a Swim Team, but may not feel they require a full Club membership. We know they will love it so much they will likely want to become full members!  However, if this program is successful in building the team, we hope to continue offering in the future.
Detailed membership information will be sent out through the Club later this month.

Coach Karen and Coach Jack are returning to lead the team along with their stellar assistant coaching staff.  We are also planning a Limited Evening Practice Option a couple of days a week for those who may have other commitments that come up through the season. We know that flexibility is key in our busy world so we hope this helps make your lives a bit easier.

You may soon notice some attractive marketing brochures floating around your neighborhood, schools, and local shopping areas as well as some advertising across several social media sites and local newspapers.  We are exhausting every avenue to promote the Club!

We are hoping some more flexible membership and practice options, aggressive marketing, and some key cosmetic improvements at the Club will help us to build membership and expand participation in summer Swim Team!!!

Specifically, it would be GREAT to get some more upper elementary and middle schoolers involved!!!!
I also wanted to provide an update regarding our esteemed Dive Coach, Sam Rottenkamp, who has decided to take a sabbatical from coaching this year to pursue a summer long bike trip down the East Coast!  Sounds like an amazing adventure, Sam. Good luck!    That being said, we would like to understand options for the Dive Program this year.

We will need a Dive Coordinator who would lead the coaches search and determine the number of people that plan to participate in Dive this year. If you have an interest in this position, please let me know at your earliest convenience. We look forward to working with our Dive families to find the best options for the program.

Oh.. and don’t forget.. Raccoon Valley is hosting Suburban Swim Championships this year at GCIT! Another great opportunity for the Club to showcase our exceptional members and swimmers!!

Again more details to come;  just wanted to treat you to a little slice of summer on this snowy dayJ

 Stay Safe and Warm!
